So why is the street of Calvo Sotelo known as "Raval".
The orignal town walls of Teulada would have defended the town from possible attacks by pirates though it also limited the growth possibility of the town so the Raval was born, an area outside of the town walls, which would house the ever increasing number of people.
The first dwellings on the Raval were constructed on narrow plots, each house as a general rule had a ground floor and a single floor. On the ground floor there was the space used for the living room to the upper floor there were the bedrooms and a space used as a storage room
What is now known as Raval was born and developed at a time of security and prosperity, as a single street, and although it did not have a centre of worship. The Fiesta of Raval has been celebrated annually, though no-one knows when it started, though each year this unique and authentic Fiesta is cebrated with Gusto, why not make this the first year when you attend?
