When purchasing a property in Spain, particularly along the highly sought-after Costa Blanca, one of the most frequently asked questions we receive from clients is: “How much would it cost to reform a bathroom?” Understandably, many of our clients arrive with reference points from their home countries, where renovation costs are often significantly higher. The good news is that in Spain—due to lower labour costs, competitive materials pricing, a full bathroom renovation is far more affordable than in Northern Europe.

In Spain the costs are lower, not least because the labour and materials costs are all less than the cost in Northern European Countries.
Once you have decided to undertake a bathroom reform the first thing you will need is a "minor works licence" from the townhall, these vary in price but they are normally less than €100. To obtain one you simply go to your Townhall and ask them for a "Licencia de Obra Menor", the staff in the Townhall will take you through the process, which is normally completed the same day.
When looking at the costs of the bathroom reform, each bathroom is different, based on M2 and also if you need to relocate or replace existing plumbing and electricity.
Spain is the EU largest producer of tiles and a global player, then you can obtain good prices from both local suppliers such as, bathroom tiles are priced from €8 per square meter

The cost of bathroom furniture and fittings will significantly influence your total reform budget. While designer options are available, most clients on the Costa Blanca can complete their bathroom with modern, high-quality fittings at remarkably low prices.
With average reforms starting at just €3,000 and premium upgrades still well below UK or Dutch price points, it makes sense to consider a reform soon after purchase—especially while the property is still empty.
